The Sultan’s School
This project was a collaboration with Graphite International on a large Master Plan for the Sultan’s School in Oman. The first phase included the renovation of the school’s existing library block and IB Centre. The school was founded on the principle of offering a world class, holistic, bilingual (Arabic-English) co-educational environment from early childhood through pre-university, that embraces and strengthens Omani and Islamic culture, whilst encouraging an international perspective.
We broke down the old walls dating back to the 1970s and in their place created a new space that is light, open-plan and flexible, with media and technology integrated throughout.
In the library, book shelves are kept on the perimeter to leave open, multi-function spaces with flexible furniture that can be transformed into collaborative or private learning zones, depending on the need. Primary and Secondary students share a central amphitheatre to encourage cross-learning between the age groups.
Products / Alongside bespoke custom designed joinery this project features furniture by Vitra, Community Playthings and Steelcase.
Materials / Tarkett acoustic concrete effect vinyl flooring, Interface Carpet tile, whiteboard writable paint and Camira fabric.
