Sheraa, American University of Sharjah
Sheraa means ‘sail’ in Arabic, and for this space we developed a design story around the idea of the entrepreneur’s journey. Sheraa helps entrepreneurs from the inception/incubator phase, through accelerator/mentorship and on to commercial success. From a space-planning perspective, the Sheraa Hub provides areas to support all of these crucial steps in building a business. Aesthetically, the ‘sail’ narrative crops up throughout the space in a subtle, abstracted way – such as the wave form we used to create the amphitheater.
The center provides startups and aspiring entrepreneurs with the support and expertise needed to build and grow their ideas. Flexibility and multifunctionality are at the heart of this design concept; it’s a co-working space, learning studio and event arena all in one. The design of the center offers a variety of collaborative and deep work spaces, casual meeting lounges, a coding and prototyping lab, workshop rooms and a quirky amphitheater for product/ business launches.
The Sheraa HQ and training spaces are housed in enclosed rooms within the open plan floor plate and the corporate colors and graphics are used throughout to build cognizance about the brand.
